Night SicknessA Poem by antiessayInsomnia likes to punch me in the stomach occasionally.
Startled awake it hits me.
I try to hold it down, but there's no stopping it tonight. It pushes upward and upword. I'm about to explode. I can't contain it. I swallow once and it triggers it. They come bursting out of me. Unrestrained. I twist to the side and let it out. Over and over again I lunge forward as they wretch themselves from my grasp. Like a cap torn from a hydrant I throw-up these words, reluctantly yet repeatedly. They spray from the fountain of my pen. And the ever faithful blank sheets catch them every time caressing the regurgitation of my heart.
