DoorwayA Poem by antiessayI was in a dark place and filled with pain after a recent breakup.
I looked up.
Suddenly I realized. I loved you. But it was too late. You stood in the doorway and turned to leave but paused. I sat there silently weeping tears of red with a gaping hole in my chest gushing out my love. It poured out slowly and flowed over my breasts. Then to my arms where it ran down to my fingers in skinny streaks. Like a waterfall, my love ran over my fingertips and dripped from my toes. And there you stood frozen with horror with my heart in your hand. You looked down on me drenched in my sorrow sitting on the bed we once made love in. But this, my dear, is the greatest act of love I could give to you. © 2014 antiessay |
