Rooted in Life

Rooted in Life

A Poem by Josh

a row of houses
every house the same
inside lives a man
counting down his days

he had circumstantial setbacks
born without a golden spoon
destined to just get by
unadmired by all

greatly average
openly normal
free willingly content
never changing life

distracting his failures
mind preoccupied
never having to think
never wondering what's beyond

rooted in life

this is sad, and relatable.
I really feel tragedy for anyone who lives their life this way.
"rooted in life."
It kind of a paradox. yes they are rooted into that way of living. yet it isn't really LIFE.
Life is not average or normal, it takes risks and has no limits.
and one has to be curious and wonder what is beyond.
I feel so sad when I read this because I know this is how a lot of the world has grown accustomed to living. If you can even call it that. what is holding us back?
