Stop Writing

a number of compelling reasons to stop writing

Don't stop writing

tomorrow

or the day after 

stop now.

put down your pencil

crumple up your draft

there are 6 billion people on the planet 

and your words are no more valuable than anyone else's.

all the good stories have already been told

no one cares what's floating around inside your head

and even if they did

people would misquote you in their Facebook statuses

teachers would overanalyze you

and twist your words until everyone is convinced that you were gay.

no one reads your blog

whatever you were going to say

probably wasn't worth the goat they would have slaughtered to print it in the middle ages. 

In a survey of the artistic professions

writers have been found to have the highest incidence of mental illness

"Poet" is just a synonym for couch-surfer.

people don't want to be challenged

they don't want their eyes opened to new points of view

they want garbage 

so forget it

stop wasting your time

stop writing.
