Mourn the SongbirdA Poem by Elle Thompson
Remember you?
Remember all those big dreams and empty promises that filled your life with deceptive light and hope? Remember standing out because you could not because you couldn't? Remember feeling taller and important Remember opening yourself up and getting torn apart Mourn your emptiness. Mourn that piece of you that is dead now Mourn the songbird I have killed her.
