Waves

Waves

A Poem by Ann Outlaw

Waves

By

Ann Outlaw
I sat on the wet chair
A blank stare over the crashing waves
I lit my cigarette
I'm a slave to digging my own grave
My mind haunts me
His memory never fades
Visions of the man I crave
Dance in my head, I cave
When I walked away, I thought I was brave
Now I know I only wanted a path he couldn't pave
If it's too late for our love to be saved
Slip me out to sea, forever dancing under the waves

Why is it we want what we can't have? A child's dilemma, an adult's conundrum.

Perfectly said. Thanks for stopping by.
I once wrote a little two-line poem that read; "How do you get over someone you know you will never get over?" This is how this piece feels to me. The loneliness of the wet chair on the beach, the hypnotic rhythm of the waves and the never ending thoughts of that one person, the love and feeling like nothing else matters at this point. Nicely done Ann
