Free Like the Breeze

Free Like the Breeze

A Poem by Ann Outlaw
"

A short poem about slowing down.

"
Is this the world that was meant to be?
I had a different vision
Back when my tired eyes could see

How did I let this get so far?
I'm all alone out to sea

Head barely above water
How will I breathe?

Two never became one
It's always you versus me

Every night I find myself
Down on my knees

Begging, crying out to God
Please, oh please, set me free

More for you is never enough
When all I crave is to slow down
Touch, feel, smell the earth

It's always rush, always more
This is my last plea

He created all of this for you and for me
No time to see the magic all around us
How can it be?

All I want is to be free
Like the breeze

Hello, your poem's title brought the Lynyrd Skynyrd song to my mind, "The Breeze" Opening line, "Well now they call me the breeze. I keep blowing down the road" Your poem has the same theme sort of and I get the desire to slow down a bit. This world is moving at a record pace and to me it feels like all of us are missing a lot in process. Each day just flies by, when do we get to stop and smell the roses? Nicely done.
