Starting Over

Starting Over

A Poem by Annie N.
"

a powerful poem to start off the new year! happy 2011 :)

"
For a while,
I was trapped.
Stuck in a endless vortex of the gathering days
Wallowing in a pool of my own ways
Sinking in the center of life's fiery blaze
Wishing I had my own dossier
To show me who I was.
Life was not going the way I'd planned,
And reality had slapped me with it's ugly hand
The Earth without notice had been spammed
Happiness itself was low on demand.
Where were those days that were so well spent,
The joyful times that came and went
I guess it's too late now to give up and repent
So why not just start over?
Place myself back on the right track,
Give the world a break and cut it some slack
And with all due respects slap reality back,
Stop foolin' around and make a comeback
Into life, into living
Not to resent life,
But to take it by the hand.

An absolutely amazing poem!
A few months back, I remember feeling like I don't know who I'm anymore and life turning into a complete confusion. But it's always better to start afresh rather than give up all hope. I can relate to this poem and I'm sure many others can as well.
You are really gifted when it comes to writing!
Keep writing :)

You've given a hope here for all who find these letters and lines.. A hope for a new beginning... Here in the new year it is truly a perfect expression of what can come if we only give it a chance, and take life by the hand... SO encouraging.

Great logic in the poem. A wise person learn from their mistakes. Leave them behind and try to live a better life. A very good with a positive ending. A excellent poem. Thank you.

I love this poem not just because it is excellent but more of cuz it was written in that style i adore so much and i often do use too. The flow was tight the way you carefully selected your words and give rhythm to this piece. You also vividly conveyed a message of great importance to us. I'll add this to my library. Thanks for sharing.

This is a really great effort... I like the nice easy rhyming (so often lines are distorted to force a rhyme) and admire the triple rhymes in more than one place. The ending is quite good - for my money, I don't think it needs any changing. Overall, a nice flow to the poem. Good work.

I really love the rhyming scheme and it flows very nice. Almost lyrical in essence. My mind traveled to the place of a person who just wanted to take a breath from the world and found reality. I love the last three stanzas though. It shows the person has grit and I honestly really love this poem.
