Wake Up William

Wake Up William

A Story by Anna-Marie Nicole

I remember it like it was yesterday, even though it happend years before. I was five, and he was seven. I remember the bright sun blinding us so as we ran across the beach barefooted. As my fingers linked into his, I grinned. "Carefull young ones!" Our mothers shouted out the front door. "We will!" William shouted. We ran onto the dock. "William," I chocked. "I'm scared." William smiled. "Me too. But we have each other, right Tess?" I nodded. "Yeah, your right." William took my hand and we flew. We crashed into the blue water, at frist cold, then warmed up. William always said it was the fishes' pee.

I chocked on the slaty water, yelling for William. But William didn't hear me. I remember the waves crashing, the fishes' singing, our mothers shouting. I would float then drawn again. I saw William. I saw him, sinking down, and kicking. His face was in awe. My eyes fixed on the orenge of the sun reflecting off the water. I heard the sobbing of our mothers again. Mis. Karen, William's mother hollored when she saw her son, cold and shinny float top the top. "Tess?" My mother asks when she pulls me to the dock. I look around for William and when I saw him I ran.

"William?" I say, placing a small hand on his stumic. I press on it. "William? It's Tess. Wake up William." My mother gently pulled me away and Miss. Karen layed next to William. I kept wispering to him. "Wake up William. Wake up....."
