untitledA Poem by annieb
I'm putting on a show for everyone around;
step right up, the one woman circus is in town. Listen to the music and stare in wonder; just don't lift the curtain and have a look under. Don't look too far past the glitz and the glamor; just embrace my big toothy grin and cheery manner. If you look too closely you'll see the high tightrope I'm walking; and the ripped safety net open to the floor it should be blocking. I have to watch my step so you won't know it's all a disguise; one wrong move and I'll tumble right before your eyes. I'm trapped in the ring with everyone watching; always fearing they'll find out it's lies I've been crafting. I guess for now no one has a clue; so continuing this act is all I can do. Ladies and gentlemen step right up and see; step up to watch the two-faced freak show I call "Me."
