Waiting

Waiting

A Poem by Anne K. Summers

waiting

waiting waiting

waiting is the hardest part

acceptance is also not easy

for somehow waiting to be in the place of mind and situation to accept something is far more difficult

waiting for things to change, to move

waiting for life to happen

waiting to make up my mind on one thing until I secure acceptance of my present situation and change it

I am always two steps ahead of myself, which means that sometimes the current steps don’t get completed, and I fall or am met with a void and wondering how I didn’t get to the two steps ahead, and the answer is that I did not take those two steps necessary to get to the steps ahead

each step is important

it is about the journey, and I understand this, but I am always living in the future and vying for the next big thing, the next excitement, the next step, the next leap, the next bound

but I have to breathe

I have to remember to breathe and be where I am in this space right here right now

and process the current situation, my life at this moment, and act

no, waiting isn’t the hardest part

acting is
