Two Lagoons

Two Lagoons

A Poem by Anne Goldmann

I had a dream about you.

And me.

We had both lost something.

We wore black and walked with people

who didn't know what to say to us.

It was the first time I saw you without makeup.

We stood on the edge of a lake

because something was just gone.

No evidence

except for the debris of hearts.

There were articles written,

a dedication, a procession, confusion.

Formal apologies.

We were both quiet and shocked and carried on.

There was a buffet and I saw what had been lost to me.

He turned around and I said, "What happened."

Then I woke up.

But I still feel like I'm wearing black and I'm still

thinking about you.

ha. holy s**t. pretty good. that part about the buffet. the buffet is where people tend to realize what they'd lost or something, and you wrote it. made me think about the buffets I've ate at, and what I've thought about. I like this. broken heart s**t usually like, I don't know, it usually doesn't take, but this was allllllright.

Some dreams have this effect on people. The c=shadow carried over to waking. The subsconscious mind tries to say something but can't find clear enough words or symbols.

Thank you Sami. At times I am full of fear. I suppose writing something about it is a release.

A good medicine. You are welcome...:)......................
Anne -- this has a different pitch in the lines --- altogether...with the words and how this comes about the read as I read this piece...the way you take us in the scene and visualize the atmosphere in the details...the representation of the color of gloom and the somber tones that reflect --- a tension is in the mist --- and then like a dream you wake up...but the realism in the dream is instilled in your mind...nonetheless...

Thank you. I certainly enjoyed yours.
Hmm. Could this have been inspired by a real dream? It certainly has that air of authenticity to it. The excellent black and photo lends itself well to the fine words.
