Sacrificing Lucidity

Sacrificing Lucidity

A Poem by Anna

With lunch today
Insanity is...
brewed like tea, in a chipped pot,
and poured...
It leaks from a cracked cup
leaving a ring of brown
liquid that is not quite like ink
yet stains a circle of
discontent into the wood it rests on.

Interesting and a little bit backwards - kind of tilts the brain to get a better glimpse for example: " stains a circle of discontent into the wood it rests on. " (rather than the stain on the wood - liking this bit here)

I wish for more of this thought process to prove that it's not lucid...I want to go 360 in my mind's eye.

(more please)

Another perfectly written poetic confection. I agree with what one of your previous reviewers has said, more please. For me I say that not because it feels incomplete, but more because I am greedy. I didn't want this poem to end.

The first though that came to mind for this one was, "Holy S***." I'm not joking. This poem is incredible. Mucho props. Mucho.

I love this piece. Not just cuz I'm a tea-totler either. Hmm, never had to spell tea-totler, sure that's wrong!!!

Good imagery, great write.

I think it is shaky at some poitns, but for the most part holds up to a nice little read. Deep and vivid imagery nice job.

Another one that I just love...

(And if I recall, I have been served such a brew on more than one occasion *quirky wink*)

I love this poem. So tight.
Definitely a favourite.

I like the alliterations all through the peice, and the stacatto of 'chipped pot' and 'cracked cup'
'liquid that is not quite like ink' is a great line to say over and over. And the preceding 'leaving a ring of brown
liquid' has fluid round vowel sounds like the liquid, which are abruptly stopped from flowing by the spikey 'plosives' in the 'not quite like ink'.

I am awed by the craft here.

The final line is deep;

'stains a circle of discontent into the wood it rests on.'
