Illusionary Strength

Illusionary Strength

A Poem by Annalisa

Used everyday by everyone

In many different forms and styles.

Responsible for relaying ideas,

They hold the power of misunderstandings,

Hurt feelings, lost meanings.

As trivial as commenting on the weather,

And as critical as life and death.

We give words all this power, yet what are they?

A puff of air, a half-formed thought,

They weigh nothing, have no physical strength,

And even less meaning, except that which we give them.

Hey, I really impressed with this, not only because I completely relate to it, but because it holds a lot of truth.
To a soul the others seem always different and hard to understand, not to mention evil, these things dividing it from the others.
The last affirmation, is what I repeat to myself every time someone tries to get me down.
Nice work.

I have given these words nothing but what they already possess..
which leaves me to wonder whose consciousness has etched them into the universal paradigm....

a subtle shift in awarenss can make all the difference in the life of any given individual.

I've seen it. I've BEEN that individual..and I'm giving back all I can.

There is nothing more emotionally worse than finding out that the strength you always thought you had was nothing more than an illusion. Only then can a human fully realise that he is so fragile.

Well done on conveying such raw and harsh feelings. You really bring people back down to earth with so much pain.

true!
it's the thought that precedes them that creates form from the formless.

Very honest, insightful philosophy. I like that it's so poiniant but kinda non-commital. There's a beauty to not knowing and a real power to wondering and yet not needing to know. Loverly.

Very true. =) Words can be so powerful depending upon what is meant when using them. They can mean nothing, or everything. Great job capturing this. =)

I'm impressed with this piece, It has such a great meaning behind it. A fight is started just because of words. It's like a gun, They're only dangerous in the wrong hands. The same goes with words. When a friend calls another a b***h, most of the time it's used as an endearing term. But the second a stranger calls that person a b***h, it's fighting words. Words have such power they can ruin a life or bring life. A very good thought provoking piece... Amazing Job as usual!

Words have the power to give or take life away, it has the power to make one wealthy or lose everything. And all of this comes from thoughts.

The entire universe is an illusion indeed.

Your fundamentals are wonderful, I like the length and message imparted, as you have given enough and complete without going around in circles. It fits perfectly and retains one's attention well.

Long enough to let the message linger.

A wonderful piece.

Mmmm. Very deep and all so true. The power of words only exist because we allow it. This makes me think of that Twilight Zone where the guy wakes up one day and all the words have slowly started to change meaning. Like now Apple meant cat and word meant spit and such. In the end he was as lost and a child having to relearn everything about words and their meaning. Was a pretty interesting idea and show.

You once again have give us something to think about as well as allow our own thoughts to dwell within the possibilities you have given us.

Great Job!!!!!

This is very deep and true Annalisa. it' is so true about the value words, the validly that controls our emotions and weight on our minds. To believe them to be right and take for gospel. In a few words you sum up a powerful poem.
We give words all this power, yet what are they?

A puff of air, a half-formed thought,

They weigh nothing, have no physical strength,

And have no meaning, except that which we give them.

So true so true
