A new Philosophy

A new Philosophy

A Poem by Annalisa
"

Written in May 2008.

"

A life philosophy, centered around

Cynicism, indulgence, lack of expectations.

Where trust is unheard of. It is the anti-love:

Not really hate, but instead cold indifference.

It’s been years since any kind

of sympathy has been able to pierce the cold.

It’s been years since I’ve been able to recognize

The outside world as real and in need just like me.

And this life of static emotions

Suits me fine, or at least it did, until you came

And ruined it all. Brought life back to the barren

Mind that had forgotten it no longer held passion.

Now I sit, feeling for the first time in years.

Not sure of what to make of these thoughts.

Forced into inaction because of confusion.

control wrenched from my now feeble grip.

You killed my world without any effort on your part.

An off handed comment, a passing smile.

A helping hand, and my world unraveled.

You didn’t even know the havoc you left behind.

I don’t like this new philosophy,

This new perspective characterized by love.

I can no longer live simply for myself,

And I don’t know how to live for anyone else.
