A Poem by Annalisa
"

Written in April 2008.

"

Everything is always tomorrow,

Always coming and never here.

We are a race that lives our lives

In the dreams of the future,

Yet seem happy to sit on our asses

And let those dreams pass us by.

We are so wrapped up in the future,

Trapped in our cubic zirconium dreams,

That we miss the beautiful moments

That are happening right in front of us.

A silly comment, a free smile,

A fleeting caress, all lost to expectation.

I’m tired of waiting for tomorrow,

and the disappointment when it arrives.

Maybe I’m the underachiever

That I am constantly accused of being.

But if forgetting expectation leads to happiness

Then screw the future, and live for the moment.
