I

I

A Poem by Annalisa
"

Written in April 2008.

"

Love is a sorry thing; mean only for old biddies,

Pre-adolescents girls, and poets lost in another time.

A deceitful thing love is, claming for itself

glory and supremacy over all other human emotions,

when in reality it’s just false moonlight,

self-pity, lies, and all in the cause

of a quick and nasty romp… Let us forget love,

with all of its impossible dreams:

for never has life been so full of opportunity,

and never have  we yearned for the freedom of choice,

and the freedom of life with the fervor that we do now.

Let us simply enjoy one another, with no strings,

No commitments to sour our unions of the moment

whether they be brief or not. Let us give up heartache

and regret, and instead fly to new worlds

on the wings of choice and fresh opportunity.

The same exact words I tell others when it comes to love.

Either it will come in time.

Or people stay friends.

But it is best to savor the moment we are in, and let things be.

There is no sense to develop such a larger than life poetry in something that barely has depth.

This is a good and insightful piece.

I really like this post-modern take on love, I think we can do that if we want.
