Originally written in 2005. A poem about what we choose to see and what we choose to ignore.

I’m tired of all these lies.

Why can’t you see who I am inside?

I’m not as complicated as it may seem.

All you have to do is think…

Think of how I choose to live,

think of how I choose to speak,

think of who I choose to be.

I’m tired of all these lies.

Why do you refuse to see who I am inside?

Deep down you know the truth.

So why can’t you simply acknowledge it?

I’m not as complicated as it may seem.

All you need to do is think…

Try and see through the façade

            that you have given me.

I’m tired of your excuses.

I’m tired of your lies.

Why is it you’re ashamed of who I am?

Why can’t you see who I am inside?

And it embarrasses you.

Well…

I’m tired of trying to live out your lies.

It’s time you saw who I really am.
