Beliefs

Beliefs

A Poem by Annalisa
"

Originally written in 2002. The poem talks about pushing opinions onto other people, and how it rarely has a positive response.

"

 What compels your need

to impress your beliefs into me?

Do I walk down the street

screaming my convictions?

No…

Yet you still feel the need

to force yourself upon my mind.

Do you think you’re the first?

The first to reveal to me Jesus Christ?

Yeah right…

I’ve heard it all before,

yet still you don’t understand

and continue to bore me.

I gave your god a fare chance,

as I did all the rest.

But you see…

I wasn’t impressed.

But of course you cannot be

content with that…

So next time you think

to impress, to force, your beliefs onto me

be ready for me to do the same.

Okay, I like it, as a poem in itself, but I see that you're saying that someone has tried to get you into the whole christianity thing. I am a christian myself, but a little on the athiest side. I have many different oppinions. But you did a great job on it. Apparently you were mad during the duration of writing this down, but its always nice to vent. Overall, the poem was great. You put things into your perspective, and it turned out to be a success. Keep up the good work and welcome to writer's cafe=]

There is nothing worse than a Christian when it comes to down right dogmatism, I guess you would need such beliefs if you wanted people to conform to your rule so you could become a super power, mind you. A nice read.

A cry from the heart with which I concur heartily. I will respect your right to your beliefs and in return I expect you to respect my right to disagree.
Well presented in poetic prose
