Frightened Little BirdA Poem by lovelyricalpoetryBelieving in oneself is a vital key to self-preservation!
She didn’t want to go to school,
Her Mother didn’t know,
There were girls, who put her down,
Everywhere she’d go.
Threatened with abusiveness,
She never said a word,
Cowering in the crowded halls,
Like a frightened little bird.
She really didn’t understand,
The treatment she received,
Or that things could change for her,
If in herself she believed.
It was the eve of junior prom,
Though she didn’t want to go,
The flawless beauty in the mirror,
Was a girl she didn’t know.
A newfound confidence came to her,
She would show them all.
Like Cinderella she would go,
To the fancy ball.
When she stepped onto the dance floor,
Everyone stopped to stare.
Who was that gorgeous creature?
So pretty, it wasn’t fair.
Recognition slowly dawned on them,
But they somehow lost their nerve,
And Cinderella finally got,
The respect that she deserved.
