Father's Lessons

Father's Lessons

A Poem by lovelyricalpoetry
"

My beautiful Father was illiterate - something I never knew until I reached my teens. He was the smartest man I've ever known!

"

My father was a wonderful man,
He worked hard all his life,
Providing everything he could
For his children and his wife.

Dad never read us stories,
When we went to bed.
He’d tell us tales about his youth,
Stories he kept in his head.

When we gave him a special card,
He’d smile and be so proud,
Then he’d pass the card to Mom
And she’d read to him out loud.

As a child I never guessed,
My father was always so bright.
No one but Mother was aware,
Dad couldn’t read or write.

I’ll always remember this precious man,
With the love and respect he earned.
He taught me lessons not found in books,
And I treasure what I learned.

Its amazing the things that are revealed to us as we get older. My father was actually a poet.. and i had no idea. But I digress... this poem was sweet and endearing. And the admiration of this wonderful man was felt thru every word.

Excellent
