Lost Within Her MindA Poem by lovelyricalpoetryA story about my Mother-In-Law who lives with Dementia.
Misplaced memories of yesterday,
They’re just outside her grasp,
Fleeting glimpses torment her,
But they never seem to last.
Confusion constantly seeks her out,
She’s such an easy prey,
Her will to keep on trying,
Grows weaker every day.
Who are all these strangers?
And what is she doing here?
The empty life that surrounds her now,
Brings loneliness and fear.
When her thoughts are lucid,
She cries and wonders why,
Her family has abandoned her,
Left her here to die.
Death will come to claim her,
For it leaves no one behind,
But her fate for now is worse than death,
She’s lost within her mind.
