Tension

Tension

A Poem by A. Lee

Tension hangs between us;

Palpable and thick,

Yet diaphanous and see-through

Like a sheet of glass.

smirking all the while..

At the disturbance it has created.

There is nothing I can say or do.

The strain of our emotions and opinions is overwhelming.

Our sentimental feelings are the same.

But my conscience differs greatly from yours.

Both are equally charged...

But in opposite directions.

This toxic combination is painful.

It stings the heart and wounds the mind.

It is here, that tension comes.

And rears its ugly head.
