A Tear Drop

A Tear Drop

A Poem by A. Lee

A Tear Drop.

A small drop of saline, watery fluid,

That is secreted from the lacrimal glands between the eye and the eyelid.

But it is so much more.

A tear drop is the fear of what is to come,

Of who I will grow up to be.

It is the searing pain in my heart

For the loss of a friend.

It is the feeling of helplessness,

When nobody cares or understands.

It is the hopelessness and greif,

of a childhood that was stolen.

It is the the sting rejection

When nobody will stick with you in the worst of times.

It is the hole in my chest

Where someone, something, should be.

It is the realization that I am nearly powerless

Against all of of the hatred in the world.

It is strong emotion, and for a while I considered it a weakness to shed a tear.

But I know that I was wrong.

No one is weak for having feelings.

No one is weak for having a heart.
