Outside the Window

Outside the Window

A Poem by A. Stringfellow

Outside the window lies a world full of pain, hope, love, and joy

Emotions that we, as humans, feel universally

Regardless of race, gender, or sexuality

Outside the window lies PAIN

Pain from the tragedies happening across the globe

Pain from the unrequited love you so longed for

Pain felt for a stranger you never met

But pain is not forever, pain is temporary

It does not have to consume

Pain makes you stronger, smarter

It reminds us that we are still living and breathing

Outside the window lies HOPE

Hope for a better tomorrow

Hope for those who have lost it within themselves

Hope that one day we can unite

Without hope, we lose our ambition to strive

Optimism turns into pessimism

Light becomes dark

To lose hope is to lose all sense of faith

Outside the window lies LOVE

Love for your family and friends

Love for the beauties of the Earth

Love for mankind and all its flaws

It’s both frightening and magnificent

Begins from the moment our hearts start beating

But never loses its appeal

Love is the solution to the dilemma of humanity

Outside the window lies JOY

Joy is happiness in its rawest form

Joy in moments and memories

Joy is the happy tears you cry

Comes when least expected or without reason

It lives within us waiting to overcome

To live with joy is to live with peace

Joy may leave you for a time, but it always comes back

Yes, it comes back if we allow it to come into our hearts.
