The perfect runaway

The perfect runaway

A Poem by Ana Del

Feel free to run again today,
Just as you were running yesterday,
Having learnt how to run
Before even learning how to walk,
As all rebel souls gone astray,
But don't become a runaway.

You can run from other people,
From the things you're scared of,
You can run towards joy
And you can run away from pain,
You can run once and then run again,
But don't become a runaway.

You can run when others seem to stay,
When the cold wind of the Big North
Is craving wrinkles on your pretty face,
Or the heath of the South burns your soft skin,
You can even run from the ones you keep within,
But don't become a runaway.

You can run when all the evil outside
Seems to lace you down as its pray,
Or when the good you have inside
Gets stained by all the nuances of grey,
You can then run again as fast as you can,
But don't become a runaway.

Oh, but what is there left to make you stay?
It is never too late, they say,
Maybe it is time for you to stop running right away,
My sweet rebel, you perfect inner runaway.
