Maybe

Maybe

A Poem by Anggela
"

This was a poem I wrote today, after I met someone, who I stopped talking to recently, our story didn't have a proper end, well I hope is not it yet.

"

Maybe you did love me

For a split second,

When we held hands

At the back of the uber,

When our knees touched

At the bar front.

Where your eyes looked at me

Expecting to say more.

We had a couple of beers,

And I got drunk.

Maybe it was the heat of the night,

Or that sparkle in your eyes.

Or maybe it was there,

When it got frozen in time

And your jealousy came out

Unexpectedly.

When the silence of our mouths

Was louder than any other sound.

The night was completely ours,

as my lips touched yours,

as I wanted to

from the moment I first saw you.

Your skin on my skin,

Your hands touching the back of my head.

Your lips expecting another kiss,

And your eyes closed with the wait.

Your words so kind

To my anxious self,

Words of reassurance

That touched a place deeper than my bones.

Your legs rubbing my feet

And your insecurities showing to me.

And maybe it had to be that way,

To fall in love for a couple of days.

Life’s hustle had to take you away,

But you know I would’ve stayed,

For days, weeks, months and years.

If just a sign you would’ve given me.

Oh my god Anggela, a poem so beautifully written that made me ache with memories. Most love is so fleeting, lasting love so rare. It was good to hear from you, even though it hurt.
