Mystical creatures

Flames roaring in their body

Waiting to come out

 

Scaly creatures

With rough skins

Just like a snake

 

Misunderstood creatures

Nobody knows their true nature

They are very territorial

That’s why they attack people

Just to protect their nest

The short sentences and concise wording makes for an easy to read poem. Dragons are mystical, subjects of mythology. However, the last two verses start to sound like a nature documentary. Komodo dragons are real and would match those verses. You might consider reducing the line number in the last verse to match the first two. Or not. Interesting poem.

When I read this, I look past the literal and see people who are viewed as monsters hiding in the shadows. Like an insecurity but wanted to be accepted "waiting to come out." I like that I can read into this in my own way.
