Carnival Ride

Carnival Ride

A Poem by mi-chan

crickets chirp

ripples resound

in that familiar pattern

like a Merry-go-round

hear the screams

feel the whip

eternal darkness

shadows the trip

within your life

you’re given a choice

listen to earth

or the other voice

given again

a chance reborn

i chose wrong

and was covered in thorns

my trip was not

as you say, kind

threaded in pain

losing my mind

round and round

i go again

through Satan’s home

the devils den

exempt from any

form of light

i sit here now

drowning in the night

please, oh please

someone hear

my muffled pleads

of bloody fear

i beg again

for another chance

he’s stealing my soul

i enter a trance

no more, no more

joyless times

I’ll pick the other

as death chimes.

Round-and-round

my carousel goes

when will it stop?

only Satan knows
