two feet and ice

two feet and ice

A Poem by A.H.
"

a moment of reflection during my walk on an icy cold day ...

"
isn't this life much like,
walking on a thin ice sheet?

if you push too hard,
you might slip, fall, and slide,
bruising your bottoms.
if you push too slow,
you might be stuck on the ice,
with icy cold feet.

it's all about finding balance,
isn't it?

my two feet,
and I tiptoe a step,
then another step,
then another,
I'm past the
glassy ice sheet.

it's strange how we know,
and yet, we still don't know.

then, I thought to myself,
don't be too happy when you win,
don't be too sad when you lose,
don't lose your heart and mind over,
just do your thing,
and let it be.

I really like the poem! It makes me think about life like walking on ice. Sometimes, if you go too fast, you might fall, and if you go too slow, you get stuck. The poem talks about finding a balance.

I like how you say we should not be too happy when we win or too sad when we lose. It's cool how the poem teaches us to just keep going and not worry too much. It’s a nice reminder to take things step by step!
Lovely work, Abhi! Keep going!

Thin ice is a great analogy describing the uncertainty and chaos we are facing moment by moment these days. It’s become a balancing act and I wonder how long we can sustain it. Brilliant piece of writing.

Thank you for reading and sharing those thoughts on this write. Appreciate it very!
sometimes the thoughts in our heads are treading on ice as well...can we achieve a balance to keep ourselves from falling.
Not always...but it is still betting to move forward with courage...at least attempt to.
Safe isn't what achieves...risk usually does.

Exactly how I felt one naughty day when we tested the ice in the lake… but it’s the same on any icy surface… the black ice is particularly treacherous to navigate. The last stanza brings it within shoving it, like the classic morality tales done with finesse and lasting effect 🙏🏻👍🏻🕊️

Hey AH,

Thanks for sharing your penmanship with us, it was a pleasant read. The last two lines resonate most with me.

Sometimes accepting things that are beyond our control, or perhaps more so that the actions of others are beyond it, is the most sensible outlook.

It’s a shame, I think, that too few of us are content with that.

Anyways, thanks for sharing.

Indeed, moderation is the surest path. It's the extremists who cause all the trouble for others and themselves.

I can agree with this. The analogy of walking on thin ice is such a powerful way to convey the idea of balance. I like the line "It's strange how we know, and yet, we still don't know." it's like we intellectually understand the importance of balance, but somehow it still feels like an elusive goal. And the final message of moderation and acceptance is profound. nicely written.
