bygones be bygones

bygones be bygones

A Poem by Abhilash Hegde

I once thought,
what it is;
to ride a fleeting wave on a rough sea
or to be a breezy shade under a peepal tree?

I once thought,
what it is;
to bloom like a sunflower in a dancing spree
or to be the little cuckoo singing on a rooftree?

I once thought,
what it is;
to waddle in deep waters unto knee
or to be the raging fire setting the candle carefree?

I once thought,
what it is;
to bump on a long road with winding directions,
or to be the thoughtful pause in a sea of emotions.

And, I once thought,
what is it to be
is for another day to see..
as you awaken to the new dawns,
let bygones be bygones..

I love your wonderful philosophy to "Let bygones be bygones" in this superbly inked poem, Abhilash.
By forgiving the other person, we set ourselves free and move forward with out lives. I love the layout of the poem, all the beautiful visual detail within the poem and the rhyming scheme of the poem also. I feel this poem has universal appeal to each reader because we have all be there and done that and we have learned from the experience. Let go of the past, let bygones be bygones and we need to forgive ourselves also, as well as those who hurt/harmed us. A very inspiring write! I enjoyed reading very much. Thank you for sharing, Abhilash...

Each day is a clean slate and we will fill it as we want to....we can choose to see the bright side of life. What has happened in the past is not something to dwell upon. I enjoyed the nature references in this one. Lydi**

Thank you Thomas for the review!
so often our thoughts are " what is it to be this or that person." But the choices you have made being objects or actions are much more exploratory in interest. and i especially like the thought " what is it to be
is for another day to see.." Glad I came by - enjoyed the read - carl

Thank you Carl for your observations and leaving this review. Glad you enjoyed the read :)
I think it often takes a lot to calm the waters when that sea is rough. To be able to to bring a raging fire inside down to a candle that guides us through the dark is a challenge, but one worth trying. Those new dawns are possible and worth it.

I like this poem being it gets the message though in a way only a poet can write. Well done. :)

I am in the midst of a situation befitting this poem...with a sibling...we have let bygones be bygones and for the first time in our lives, really connected.
the raging fire has become a contented candle.
