Sometimes

Sometimes

A Poem by Abhilash Hegde

Sometimes,
we get ballooned on fat airs of
false praises,
we forget, it just takes a little prick
to flatten you out.

Sometimes,
we walk too far down on the path of
worldly desires,
we forget, it just takes a pinch of reality
to burst the fairy-tale bubble.

Sometimes,
we speak more than what we can chew,
we forget, it just takes one little misspeak
to break our relationships.

Sometimes,
we get ourselves intertwined so deep
in attachments,
we forget, it just takes a touch of distance
to cause more pain than we can take.

Sometimes,
we all forget, where we started.
So, be rooted to find the balance.

Yes be careful of being full of yourself...
others have more space to do that, but their humble demeanor will shoot you down in a second.
There is always someone who is better than we, who could beat us at anything we think we are the champions of...
a little less ego goes a long way.
a poem with strong philosophy,

This poem made me think about how we need to stay balanced in the face of so many things in life. Staying balanced is something we all strive for. It is just a personal state of equilibrium in the face of flattery, failure, loss, broken relationships and misunderstandings. If everything stayed the same we would not be tested for our balance so this 'sometimes' you speak of is very important. Thank you.

Thank you Christine for sharing your thoughts on this write. Appreciate you stopping by!
A very sombre tone in this poem filled with sage warnings about our behaviour towards others and avoiding getting too 'full of ourselves'. A nicely put, flowing piece.
