An epitaph

An epitaph

A Poem by Abhilash Hegde

Don't wet your tears
for I'm still breathing
down your ears.
The lemonade
I drank for years
has turned
sourer and sourer
just like the blood
that turned a clot
when it kissed
the foul air
amidst the dust.
Do cry over
the tomb with
no red roses
but with a heart
of taste and
a soul of memories.
I'm watching you
even when I'm
down here silent
with pale eyes
and a wish
to be that tear
which would
roll down on your
cheeks like pearls.

Wow! A message from beyond the grave for loved one who is in mourning for a loved one who has crossed over to Spirit. I love how the loved person in Spirits does not wish their loved person still on the earth plane to mourn over their grave but in their heart where memories are kept. I can never understand why people cry and sob for their loved one set free from their pain, their old age, their unhappiness, when they are now in a place of perfect peace and joy, reunited with those gone before them. Who would not wish their loved ones to be happy instead of lying on a bed of thorns, lingering on in pain and suffering? "I'm watching you even when I'm down here", I take it this refers to our loved ones who have crossed over to Spirit always being with us, Abhi? Yes, they are always with us, it is the love between us and them which connects us to them and them to us and one day, we will be reunited with them again. Their greatest joy is when we get on with our lives and live life to the full, with them in our heart. I like this poem very much, Abhi. It is well inked, you say a lot in so few words, it is a very in depth write and presents a lot of food for thought to your reader. Well expressed too! Thank you for sharing, Abhi. I enjoyed reading...
