VA saved my life

"

rancid odor
captured every breath
denying ability to breathe
the taste of death
lingers
on the tip of one's tongue
carnage stinks filling
lungs with unmistakeable
disgust
eyes capture in detail
the atrocities permanatly
etched in memories
forever

killing is nothing to brag about
it is the worst of mankind
how low can we go
there is no bottom
in the bottomless pit
of ptsd
nor rescue of the soul

lines crossed are forever
false pride betrays sanity
lines crossed are forever

the VA saved my life

A very graphic portrait of the effects of war and killing here. Strange how mankind knows full well of these horrors, and yet wars continue without ceasing. I watched "Dr. Strangelove" again recently, and while it's still a funny movie, the scenario it depicts remains a possibility. That might bring wars to an end, primarily because there would be no one left to fight them.
