A very graphic portrait of the effects of war and killing here. Strange how mankind knows full well of these horrors, and yet wars continue without ceasing. I watched "Dr. Strangelove" again recently, and while it's still a funny movie, the scenario it depicts remains a possibility. That might bring wars to an end, primarily because there would be no one left to fight them.

if everyone had to kill just one other being ...
war might become past history rather than current event
but truth be known ... most people have no idea what we, those that fight their wars have had taken from us ... our freedom
we are captives of what we did,
what we were ordered to do
our damage done is forever
but most just don't care

this piece like many others i have written don't get much readership ... why? because most would rather block out the harsh realities and read about kittens and rainbows and cotton candy and make-believe crap
everyday my heart breaks for my brothers
i am almost 74 and for the last 50 + years
i have lived 'our' reality every day since
because i am a killer ... your killer!
