WOKE!

WOKE!

A Poem by keith
"

i know so

"
WOKE!

woke
i think so
no, i believe so
no, i know so

yeah yeah yeah
i hear you

i hear your
condescending manner
i hear your self adoration
i see your racist ways
i know the fear my friends feel

yes
i am woke
i always have been

i knew it was wrong
for fathers to hug the dog
kick the wife holler at the kids
i knew it was wrong

yes
i am woke
i always have been

i knew it was wrong
to be hypocrites
to be racist
to be so goddamn ignorant
i knew it was wrong

yes
i am woke
i always have been

i knew we were no better
that dark day november
the lights of camelot
dimmed forever
i knew we were no better

yes
i am woke
i always have been

i know we are no better
perhaps have never been better
nothing more than a wooden nickle
posing as fact
i know we are no better

yes
i am woke
i always have been

the big lie the big lie
you're right
WMD WMD
the big lie the bigger lie

yes
i am woke
i always have been

now kindly stfu
kindly stfu
i will always be woke!

I like the powerful message of this poem. It really defines this point of time in history. Where a segment of our society relishes ignorance over truthfulness. As if "Woke" is some sort of ethical immortality that should be shamed. To disparage civility, morality, and education because of one's political view that sees ignorance as a great virtue. They stop at nothing like an unfettered virus seeking the moral decay of our communities because they feel the ideas of the past were greater then the aspirations to be a better civilized country are. Where is the virtue in hate? How does such a concept conform to their so called Christian values. In parables that speak of brotherhood and the accepting of others as if they were your own. To love the sinner for no man shall judge another. Nor cast the first stone. If one single person does not believe in the declaration that we are all created equal than they are the furthest thing from patriot. Because these rights and freedoms are not exclusive to a single minority of the populace. They encapsulate everyone who believes we are greater unified than apart. If someone wants to call me woke for taking issue with migrant children being separated from their family and being thrown in cages like animals than so be it. If they want to call me that for taking issue with the unequal treatment of minorities by law enforcement than so be it. Or if they want to brand me woke because I side with friends and family in the LGBTQ community in brotherhood so be it. If they want to call me woke because I believe creativity and art speak to our greater humanity and is a unifying force of love against the issues of hatred and ignorance so be it. But to me my commonality is more towards John Lennon who saw himself as just a dreamer. Stupidity is a choice and there is no virtue in being disingenuous nor untruthful. Those who choose to be can easily be manipulated by someone more smarter and hateful than them.

if that is WOKE
then THAT IZ ME!
All these things we know. But nobody is ready to question all these that the society called norms. Many people think nothing is bad doing them and it ends up causing anarchy around us. I wish everyone would be awoken too and come back to our right sense.

A thought-provoking one, Keith.
