Pride..

Pride..

A Poem by Angie G
"

Love comes and goes when you least expect it, but, will you listen to your heart or your pride??

"
I found myself wrapped around your arms. Holding me by the waist, listening to your heartbeat.

My heart dancing to the rhythm of your whispers.
Sweet sound that made me drown in melancholy.
Yet I held back the tears for they would not change that moment.

So I remembered our love and a smile found its way to my lips.
And as I held on to you a little tighter I heard you say into my ear...
"Don't ever doubt my love for you, for it was true and genuine".

As you let go and kissed my lips, I knew it would be the last.
And as I walked away and wished you the best, I felt it....
Excruciating pain ... That which came when pride stopped me from fighting for your love.

This is intensely felt! You've really nailed that feeling perfectly, how we are crushed & wanting to beg a person to come back, but pride gets in the way. You've delivered this little vignette with a stinging honesty that can be felt thru & thru. But sometimes it's not all pride, it can be fear of getting hurt again, which is still a form of pride, since it's thinking about oneself instead of the other person! (((HUGS))) Fondly, Margie

Let go of your pride and give in to what you feel is right. Love is a miracle. it doesn't happen everyday
