Disciplining word (into a PETRARCHAN SONNET)

Disciplining word (into a PETRARCHAN SONNET)

A Poem by angelina neves
"

Albert's cafe CONTEST: A 'PETRARCHAN SONNET"

"
Disciplining word and line rhyme
Not letting them just flow from the heart or mind
But by some scheme you called up and find
In an instruction book collection with strange name
Words becoming puzzle pieces of a refine game
Of how to use language expression of the kind
Painting inside given lines exercise bind
In an enriched intellectual form that will bring fame!

Uf! So much trouble to inject a single nuance
And all looks too stiff to feel the joy tingling
The kind of free words that make our body dance
Or the animation of music the ocean is now playing
Floods of spume waves exploding by chance
The true nature, never disciplined, song bursting!

Author's Note

angelina neves
The Petrarchan Sonnet consists of many rhymed lines, more than any other sonnet. This is much easier to accomplish in Italian, a language more rich in rhyming words, than in English. The first eight lines create an octave, with the rhyme scheme a b b a a b b a. The last six lines make up a sestet and may consist of following rhyme schemes: 1) c d e c d e 2) c d e d c e 3) c d c d c d.
