Wish We Were Kids Again

Wish We Were Kids Again

A Poem by Mona Lisa Smile
"

Just what the title says!

"
Remember when we were young,
And we couldn't wait to grow up?
When nothing ever went wrong,
And a candy made us glow up?

When fights meant broken toys,
And every girl was a princess?
When the wounds that hurt the most
Were scrapes from the benches?

When every wound was healed up
By a magic kiss from mother?
When a wrecked doll was the cause
Of fights with your brother?

When all it took for you to melt
Was chocolate and a 'sorry' card?
When we knew no miseries of the world
And life was not all that hard?

Well now that we are older
(Or old enough to know)
I wish I was still a little child
Playing in the winter snow.

Well now that we've all grown up,
What breaks during a fight
Are no more toys, they're promises,
We can't ever get it right.

We wish that we never grew up,
We wish we had stayed younger,
O, what I would not give to be
A little kid a little while longer!

Author's Note

Mona Lisa Smile
It doesn't actually snow where I live in India, regrettably. :P Other than that, this is my first published work ever, so please go easy on me. :)
