A Fish out of Water

A Fish out of Water

A Poem by light and ashes

I am a fish out of water.
I am a sea creature on land, searching for a place that I belong,
a pond or some body of water where I can breathe.
I thought I would be safe here.
Sharks swim around looking for a tasty morsel.
The predators here are more crafty.
They have methods of capture that I was not aware of.
They hide behind bushes and trees that are foreign to me.

I like where you go with a number of these poems. I would encourage you to go back after a month or so and re-read them and see if they want to go further.
For example, the snakes in the nightmare - I couldn't help but think that a next line surely had to be something about the lack of logic in a nightmare.

Same with many of these - excellent starting points but I would hope they could be fleshed out just a bit more. Not a lot - just some.

thank you, sweetheart.
Fish out of water…yep, a familiar feeling that occurs many times in one’s lifetime. Eventually you grow lungs and legs, then look out world! Good writing my dear!

Thank you, Patricia! I appreciate you so much! :D
Flounder or floundering? Both. Under certain conditions. Not knowing which is the problem and the cure. --- Good read, well written.

Thank you.
That feeling of not belonging is uncomfortable. People aren't always what they seem, so best to be careful until you get to know them better. Most people are reasonable but the sharks are there and they have a nasty bite. Good to read you light and ashes

Chris.

Gee
Luckily there are more good than bad in a world that is often in turmoil.
My advice to you m'dear is grab yourself some shark repellent, a cudgel, but more importantly surround yourself with love, that of others and for your self :))
Enjoyed your words

Thank you.
I relate to this on a personal level. For a good part of my life for one reason or another I have felt like the odd man out (fish out of water). Because of the way I was raised I have always dealt with it or looked through the feeling. But it is there none the less.
As far as trust goes that can be a entirely different issue. We have to be careful most people are not what they say. Teach are sons and daughters to be transparent and be careful. Because sometimes there is sharks 🦈 in the water.
