The Infinity of Us

The Infinity of Us

A Poem by light and ashes

Our conversations were full of pregnant pauses that ended up being still borns.
A silent longing passed between us.
A longing for words to fill the void, but there were none.
All our memories we spilled into the sea, to fade into nothingness.
The infinity of us passed into the next cycle of life to be reborn somewhere else.

Thank you so much.
This was a great poem to read. The opening lines are brilliantly penned. You captivated me all the way to a perfect ending that supported the opening stanzas. Well Done!

Thank you.
Oh I like this. It's sad, true. But I know people like this. Some are so hard to talk too. And others just piss us off or hurt us so that we can't even begin to start. How akward. Well said!

Sometimes it happens.... thank you for your review.
i like the way you personified the emptiness of the relationship, i think it's really powerful. the first line was built with such a distinctive metaphor. i have never heard anything like it before, it was so effective! no critiques :)

Gee
So many couples sit across a table with neither looks or words shared, with seemingly no common ground to converse about it must be a strange way to conduct a relationship and surely only ends one way.
I'm 29 years with my wife this year and we still chat away to each other, only now she tells me what to say :)))

That's cool :) thanks for your review.
Your title holds a great irony; especially in regards to love and relationships. They quite often fall into the abyss of those pregnant pauses and find themselves reincarnated, but only with another. It's a clever idea, well expressed with a lovely slight touch of buddhist theology. 🌹

Wow, that first line is so so meaningful. I would have never thought to put it that way, heartbreaking. The whole thing holds power.
