The stars. Still had their purpose. Can show us where we are going and what we left behind. A desert night with no cities near. The stars are artwork and so beautiful. You are right my friend.

Thank you for sharing the amazing poetry and your thoughts.

Your poem reminds me of the old saying: "you can never go back home" . . . or back to any other situation one might remember as being cozy & inviting. We always get a refresher course, almost immediately, on why we ditched that scene (((HUGS))) Fondly, Margie
So true. We can connect with our past more often and can cry and smile with it, remembering the days but we can not relive them... As they are gone.... A very good write

I love your interpretation... very wise and astute. Thank you for reviewing.
That’s awesome it reminds me of a piece I wrote a long time ago but of course mine was long winded, I like this more short and to the cold point well done
This is a good metaphor for human death; some people leave their memoirs behind, but they are still gone. Some people believe that a dead person could be a lighted star.
I liked the way you shaped this poem. In a succinct way you said a lot. Bravo!

I suppose this is the dichotomy of living. Life and death intertwined and perception often offering false connections or ideas. But the beauty remains. Stars are the beginning of many beautiful ideas. Even as we misunderstand them. Seems an apt analogy for the sweep of existence itself. I enjoyed your thought.
