Babylon

Babylon

A Poem by light and ashes

Babylon

I get that you are just a beast of burden;
Of the Babylon,
in which you grew up,
But if you think that you can cloak yourself in righteousness,
and fool God,
you have another thing coming.

Walking around with yet another King of Hearts;
yet another.
Holding your head high above everyone else's,
with your nose upturned in the air,
Towards the direction of Heaven.

Remember, when you are sitting upon your gold mine..
when you use the backs of other's to break your bread.
Remember, that you will never have enough money to buy your entrance into Heaven.
I advise you to remember,
that money is for w****s.

You may think that you can cloak yourself in righteousness,
and be seen as White,
But a Spade is still as black as Night.

ouch. anger and resentment bleed through these words. not easy to be around such people. everything comes out in the wash - just takes time to remove stains. sharply told.

I was not expecting your reference to w****s at all, nor your concluding stanza .. I sense a touch of anger here with a bitter aftertaste .. nevertheless a most intriguing poem if ever there was and likewise enjoyed .. Neville

That's because this poem is about someone in particular.

I take it they are no longer on your Christmas card list
and some people's hearts are just as black, especially the ones who think they are better than others.
They will find out in the end.
