Trauma

Trauma

A Poem by light and ashes

Trauma is a lot like having Cancer.
It grows year by year.
It amalgamates.
It grows in the dangerousness and seriousness of it.
The sooner it is dealt with, the better, the better chance you have of beating it,
the better you can cope with it. The longer it sits,
the more it becomes like stagnant water, filthy and pungent.
The more it sits, the longer you go without getting help, the more corroded your soul becomes,
until your Psyche is melting away, like the rotting flesh of a corpse.

we need to find expression that relieves us of trauma before it eats away at us to the point we disintegrate.
Quite the description here...this one punched me in the gut.

Thank you, for saying so.
I agree my friend.

My grandmother told me. Old hate, old regret and the need of revenge become a heavy load to carry. We must forgive and we must remember. Powerful and outstanding poetry shared my friend.

She ensured. Us grandchildren kept the Ojibwa way. I teach my grandchildren, the same.
This poem is spot on. As someone with PTSD, trauma can eat away at you. It never really goes away and sometimes it feels like you are just dousing perfume on a decomposing body. I could feel the hopelessness as well as the desire to get better. To cut out the cancer and live. Thank you for your words. I found encouragement in them!

Ok, take care.
Very wise words. Trauma does indeed often "grow" if one attempts to just ignore it. ~Jim

Well, thank you, Sir. I appreciate you stopping by, and appreciating what I had to say.
Expressed nicely, Trauma is difficult thing to bear ;-}

That is drama for sure. The best fight against is telling you feelings to a friend.

Oh ok......
Trauma is a type of cancer that you have to catch early. If you let it sit it will do exactly as the poem reads. Great write and read.
