If trees could talk

If trees could talk

A Poem by light and ashes

If the trees could talk, what do you think they would say?
Would they tell us of their history?
How they grew from a tiny seed?

How would they see man's history?
Would it be any different from how we see our own?
Would they excuse our greed?
Would they say that we ruined Eden to build steel castles?

What would we say to them?
What excuses would we give?
I for one would be out of words.

Where I live they cut them all up for new houses. I loved those trees and the birds that used to sing in the morning. Now I see a brick wall out my window. Trees are great and they actually protect the environment.

If only they were here to talk to.

Thank you so much, Thomas. I appreciate you stopping by.
This is something out of the box and need of this age. The way we human's are exploiting mother nature nothing going to last longer.

Most welcome!
in a strange way i think that they do if we'll listen and observe. they'd better say what they have to say quickly - not many left after they keep cutting them down to build. it turns my stomach how little respect some people seem to have for nature. thought-provoking and so well said. bravo.

I would be out of words too. For how could one answer such history and such long wisdom. Extraordinary.

exactly,
thank you Ken Simm.
Finely written yet sad as sad. Imagine a world without trees, without their seasonal beauty, their shade, scent and bark. Beneath that bark is the glory of another world - insects galore, going about their day.. their night.. their lives!!

' Would they say that we ruined Eden to build steel castles? ' YES, YES - a thousand times yes!

My true pleasure.
This makes me think of the trees from the lord of rings movie.
Some trees are so old they'd have stories for sure, and probably some scores to settle.

wow, thank you. Didn't expect any reviews, today.
possibly.
It would be hard to explain to them why we are killing them to make way for parking lots and other things that do not live.
Nice one.

This is lovely......thank you.
Humans have a hard time thinking about anything but ourselves. It is our great downfall. We never considered the outcome.
