lily the ducks birthdayA Story by samabout a duck named lily who has her first birthday in her own homeLily the ducks birthday.
Once on a sunny day on a farm lived Molly the duck, she laid six beautiful eggs on a Monday morning. Once they were there Molly sat on the eggs to keep them warm and waited for them to hatch. One morning they started to hatch and one by one from out of their shells came six little ducklings and waddled up to their mum. Molly named one duckling Lily and as the years passed by Lily grew into a beautiful duck. Lily was moving out of home to move into her own place since she was old enough to. On a fine sunny day Lily got all her things and left over the hill to her new home. Once inside she put all her stuff away and set up her new place the way she wanted to. The next day Lily made some new friends. Amongst them was Lucy the owl, Henry the goat and Sean the pig. Lily met them all on the first day of living at her new home. They all made her feel welcomed and on her second day at her new place she met three more friends. Mary the sheep was one and she came over to welcome her to the place. Then she met Rosie the hen and Larry the rooster. They were all a nice bunch of animals. The next day was a wet one and Lily didn't mind that it was raining so she went down to the pond. Lily loved the water and went swimming whenever she had the chance to. Lily got out after a nice swim and went home; she had some things to do. It would be Lily’s birthday in a few weeks. Lily would be turning six years old and that was a big age in a duck’s life. When the new week began Lily went to buy a new dress for a dinner she was invited to by Rosie. Lily went off to the shop and while looking through the racks she found a nice little red dress and went and payed for it. After buying a few items from the grocery store she went to have lunch at the restaurant. She had a fish and salad. Lily went home after finishing off her moist and creamy chocolate mud cake with whipped cream and coffee. The walk home was not long because Lily lived on a farm and everything was close. The farm was big and packed full of many people there were three suburbs and one city on this farm. Lily had a job in the city working for the daily newspaper. She caught the local bus to get to her job at the farm express. It was a very successful paper and they had many readers who ordered the paper. Once lily had got home she put her shopping away and sat down for a rest in her orange chair. It was two weeks until her birthday. Lily woke to the sound of knocking at her door. It was Lucy the owl at the door. “Hi Lucy, come on in”, Lily said Lucy entered the house and took a seat. “Would you like a cool drink”, offered Lily. “Yes please” Lucy replied. Lily went to the kitchen and poured two iced cold lemonades and went and sat down handing one of the drinks to Lucy. Lily and Lucy were talking for two hours. “I must go now as I have to make tea for a date I have tonight”, said lily realising how late is was. “Bye have a nice date”, “thanks I will”, Lucy said. Once Lucy had left lily made sausages and salad and sat down to eat it. Finishing of her tea and feeling tired she went off to bed. The week passed in a hurry as Lily was having a lot of fun and time always flies when you’re having fun. It would be just one week until Lily’s birthday and Lily was really excited. Lily went and got dressed, then went down to make breakfast. Lily sat down to eat her eggs and toast when there was a knock on the door, it was Mary the sheep. Lily invited Mary inside and they both sat down. “Lily would you like to come to tea at my place next Monday”, Mary asked. “Sure that would be nice”, Lily said accepting the invitation. “I will see you at six o’clock at my place next Monday then”, Mary said as she left. Lily now had a date for tea with her friend on her birthday. Lily went to work and finished her column in the paper on stranger danger. The day had come to an end so Lily went home and went to bed. Lily relaxed the next day as it was her day off work so she used her day to read her new book she bought. Finally she had read the last chapter in her novel and went down the pond for a swim. Lily loved the water as all ducks were born to swim. It was now getting dark so lily went to have tea and went off to get a good night sleep. The week passed slowly and consisted of Lily going to work. She working hard on a front page story which she had had to interview some of the animals involved in a tragic accident at the café. It took Lily all week to finish the story and have it ready for Saturday’s paper. Monday had finally come and it was Lily’s birthday. Lily made herself a big birthday breakfast and went to eat all of the delicious food. Once Lily finished her meal she went and watched a movie on the television. Over at Mary’s house, Mary was getting her home decorated for the surprise party that she planned. The food and drink had already been put out and she had finally put up the last decoration. The movie had already finished back over at Lily’s and lily was getting ready to go to tea at Mary’s. Lily put on her red dress and a pair of earrings and was now ready to leave. At Mary’s all of Lily’s friends and family had arrived and were waiting for Lily to arrive. Lily left her place and started walking over to Mary’s. Once there Lily saw that all the lights were out so she knocked on the door, but nobody answered. Lily went to try and open the door and it was open so she went in and turned on the lights. “Surprise” yelled everyone jumping out from where they had hidden. Everyone went up and wished Lily a happy birthday and the party started. Everybody started dancing to the music that was playing. Now it was time to eat so everyone sat at the table and ate and drank while chatting among themselves. After everyone was full it was time to open the presents. The first one was from Mary it was a new clock as lily’s old one wasn't working properly. The next present was a bracelet from Lucy and some lovely earrings from Henry. Sean had bought Lily some lovely red shoes and Rosie’s present was a woven scarf that she had made herself. Her parents and siblings had got her a joint present. Inside the wrapping paper was a box with a mixer, toaster and kettle all in her favourite colour pink. Larry’s present was the last one to be opened. Lily opened it and inside was a beautiful necklace with a matching ring both set in gold. “Thank you for all these lovely presents”, said Lily. They all sat down to have some birthday cake and it was a cake that had a picture of her on it. Everyone had a piece and it tasted real good. It was time to leave now as the party was ending. “What a wonderful evening”. “I will always remember it and thanks for a great birthday party everyone”, Lily told her guests. Lily thanked Mary for a great surprise party and took her presents and went home. Lily was tired so went to bed and had a nice sleep. Now her birthday had come to an end. Her next adventure was just about to begin The end
