Writing Prompt #1A Story by IzzyWhen students move to high school, they sometimes face challenges How can schools help these students? Use specific reasons and examples to explain at least two of these challenges. When moving to high school, students may face many different challenges. There are some ways the school can help with situations like making friends, fiding classes, and peer pressure. For example, students may have trouble making friends. This is especially important if they are new to the county. Something the school can do is have a teacher introduce them to a few people. When my cousin, Amber, had to change schools Amber's new teacher introduced her to another new student. This helped both students feel more comfortable in their classes. Another hardship would be finding classes, since it is probably a bigger school The school could make maps and put them in the office, or schools can create a small tour of some sort. These options would probably be better than nothing. Something else students will more than likely face is peer pressure. They may be peer pressured to do all kinds of things. The school's guidance counsler could help with that Talking with someone, without having to worry about judgement, would help people out. There are so many challenges that students moving to high school may face such as trouble making friends, trying to find the right classrooms, or trying to fight giving in With the help of the teachers and staff at the schools, I believe most of it can be resolved. Schools can do things as simple as introducing a new student to a person or two, maybe posting up a couple of school maps, or even just writing a pass for the guidance counsler. These are some ways to help out the upcoming ninth graders, and hopefully I will have someone next year to d these things and help me. © 2010 IzzyAuthor's Note
