IF I WALKED INTO YOUR EMPTY HOUSE IF I CLIMBED THE CREAKY STAIR WOULD I FIND AS I LOOKED AROUND ANY SIGN THAT YOU'D BEEN THERE IF I CRAWLED UP INTO THE ATTIC COULD YOU TELL ME WHAT I MIGHT FIND WOULD THERE BE FOR ME ANY CLUE OF THE LIFE THAT YOU LEFT BEHIND WOULD DUST SCATTER IN THE SUNLIGHT FROM THE WINDOW OF A ROOM IF I FOUND A BOX REMAINING SOMEWHERE HIDDEN IN THE GLOOM IF I LIFTED UP THE LID WOULD MY EYES THEN OPEN WIDE WILL I MARVEL AT THE MEMORIES THAT I MIGHT FIND TUCKED INSIDE WILL I FEEL I'VE GOT TO KNOW YOU AS I SIFT THRU ALL YOUR THINGS AND WILL I FEEL THE SAME EMOTIONS THAT ALL YOUR MEMORABILIA BRINGS SOMETIMES I OFTEN WONDER DID I LEAVE PARTS OF MY LIFE AROUND WOULD SOMEONE REALLY KNOW ME IF MY BOX OF MEMORIES WAS FOUND
Extraordinarily beautiful and touching writing and story-telling. The pace is wonderful and unfolds gracefully and excitingly, whilst keeping a sort of melancholy tone to it throughout, until near the ending wherein the opening of the box comes into play; juxtaposition: wonderful.
This is very well written and very inspirational in the aspects of story-telling. You've evoked a multiplicity of emotions from beginning to end; and also evoked sense of touch, sound, movement, and mental visualization.
Beautifully expressed. Our memories tell the story of our lives. There are those we wish never to forget, and so we don't. Interestingly the hurtful ones we manage to not remember or at least not as quickly.
A writer and poet leftover can become other folks dreams. Hemingway and Dante. Prime example.
" DID I LEAVE PARTS OF MY LIFE AROUND
WOULD SOMEONE REALLY KNOW ME
IF MY BOX OF MEMORIES WAS FOUND"
Old letters and old photos. Can be leftover memories left for the children. I have my elders letters and photos. Thank you Angelea for sharing the amazing poetry. Made me think this morning.

Like this poem.
It would be nice if someone took the time to look at notes, photo's, memorabilia. Just to build a picture of someones life. Sadly these days, it's more likely thrown into a skip.
well done says i! love the work with your metaphors .. especially the empty house .. felt every step and smelled the dust .. and as i read on i related this to poets leaving bits and pieces of heart and soul in the poems and writings shared ... i like this a lot ..so nice to have met and get to know you angel!
