Bitter Cold

Bitter Cold

A Poem by angeleapaugh

BITTER COLD

WHEN THE MORNING COMES BROKEN
WITH THE WIND BITTER COLD
I WANNA RIDE OUT MY EMOTIONS
WATCH THE DAY JUST GROW OLD
I CAN'T WAIT FOR THE DARK
TO ENVELOPE ME WHOLE
TO CARRY AWAY  PIECES
THAT ARE PARTS OF MY SOUL
MY EYES THEY ARE SHUT
BUT THEY ARE STARING INSIDE
AT THE ME THAT IS DISTANT
AT THE ME THAT I HIDE
I SHIVER ALL OVER
AT THE THOUGHTS THAT I THINK
AND I WORRY THAT SOME DAY
I'LL RISE TO THE BRINK
THAT I WILL CROSS OVER
WITH NO WHERE TO GO
NO PLACE NO DIRECTION
NO ONE THERE THAT I KNOW
EACH DAY IS A MEMORY
THAT I TEAR AND I FOLD
AND I WRAP THEM AROUND ME
AS I STAND IN THE COLD

Honest and sad journey in the poetry.
"EACH DAY IS A MEMORY
THAT I TEAR AND I FOLD
AND I WRAP THEM AROUND ME
AS I STAND IN THE COLD"
When life become cold and we forget the feeling of the warmth. Where did we land? Thank you Angela for sharing the excellent poetry.

"Bitter Cold"
angeleapaugh,
"When the morning comes broken
With the wind bitter cold"
Life can be a cold place where the soul just feels frozen in time. This first stanza tells of the realities of times and age and how it feels to process.

"I can't wait for the dark
to envelope me whole
to carry away pieces
that are part of my soul."
This last stanza feels like disillusionment.
It is hard to bring one self out of this state of mind and emotion.
I also really appreciated the coming stanza regarding the illumination of seeing oneself:
"My eyes they are shut
But they are staring inside
At the me that is distant
At the me that I hide."

This was a wonderful deep peice of writing.
I share your feelings of process within time.
Blessings,
Kathy
