UnlockedA Poem by Victoria ScottI was bored and in a random gloomy mood when i wrote this, nothing like this happened, I don't know what it feels like to have a broken heart, but maybe some of you can relate.Eternity didn’t last always All it took was for you to look away Maybe I should have asked for forever and a day When you vowed that you loved me All it took was another girl To send your heart into another whirl Just like you did with me Making me believe that I held the only key Had I known you kept copies…. I won’t give up, I said Your worth fighting for, you said But it ended there with no tears left unshed And the fate of my heart forever stained red. If only you realized how deeply I loved you How strong my devotion, how honest and true But unlikely responses and honest remarks Kindled the hatred in my heart with a spark You left me, empty and lifeless on the side of the road Next time, bitterly lie to my heart and I’ll know But at least you could have let me down easy… You’re so predictable, so easy to read Making me believe you were all that I need And with love lornity I fell for it all I took no precautions and was not caught in the fall I hit solid reality with earth shattering effect But putting my heart on the line, what did I expect? In your soul, feel you no guilt? For tearing down the foundation we built I used to think you were the thief that stole my affection And with past reflection I realize you did But did you treat it well? I’m going to let go One day you’ll see I’ll let go of you, just as you let go me I won’t regret the love that you fought But if you feel no regret…at least…forget me not. © 2012 Victoria Scott |
