What Can a Writer Do?A Poem by Victoria ScottSometimes I feel prejudiced against cause I can't do a lot of things, but as a writer I have found out that I can, just in a little different way.I have never carved a statue with a face so intricate it’s real I have never held a brush that led my fingers to paint what I feel I have never danced a dance where I haven’t done anything but fall I have never designed designs that made any sense at all. I have never cooked a feast that made my momma proud I have never been in love or to any man been vowed. I have never been athelical or could even say the word I have never been hilarious, or hyperly absurd. Now it may seem to you, that I can’t do a thing And might be justified, in asking me anything In fact, I can do all of the above if I could be so vain Just not in the way you think, no not in the way ordained. Actually I’m a writer; I can do all things with my mind and will And when I dance with pen on paper, my feet are never still. © 2011 Victoria ScottAuthor's Note
